RUNAWAY BUS, K 7055
à jour au: juin 2020
1977 plan Paul WHITTING, construit en UK, dériveur, (with wooden daggerboard)

1977 Terry Vernon and Mike Richardson
She was campaigned it for several seasons on the east coast and  Cowes when there was a big IOR interest and did all the EAORA circuit, including 80 -100mile races and some night races sometimes racing across the channel to places like Ostend, Calais and Holland.

1990 Derek Stroud and Bob Casson purchased her in 1990. She was on the River Orwell, north of Ipswich.

From Facebook 2024, Derek "I co-owned the 'bus' from 1990 for 3 years. We bought her from a yard on the River Orwell and brought her back to Cowes where we refitted her (see photos). She then spent some time in the West country. Subsequent owners had her completely stripped back to a bare shell at Heritage in Cowes. I know that she has since been racing from Cork and I believe has been back to Cowes for a repaint in the last couple of years. Not sure where she is now.

June,
For sale: 'Runaway Bus' GBR-7055, 'Runaway Bus' was built in 1977 for Mike Richardson, then the proprietor of Seahorse sails on the UK East Coast. She was built to the same lines as 'Magic Bus', winner of the 1976 Quarter Ton Cup at Corpus Christi, designed by the late Paul Whiting. She passed through several hands before being fully rebuilt by David Heritage in Cowes in 2006, providing a new structure and deck, new rig, keel, rudder and systems, leaving the boat looking as ne...w. She's a beautiful boat - there are plenty of pictures available on the internet. Tom Hill bought her in late 2012 and sailed her since in Jersey and the UK. Results, once they learned to get the best out of her, have been quite good: 1st Jersey Regatta 2015, 3rd Poole Regatta 2016 and 2014, 2nd IRC Small Boat Regatta 2014, 1st Quarter Tonner, 2nd in Class and 4th Overall in 2014 Round the Island Race, 2nd in lower rating division, 2015 Quarter Ton Cup.
She has been well maintained, has lots of good sails, and is ready to go. Trailer and Outboard included.

2019 August, Picture and comment from Northern and Southern Ireland racing yachts past and present Facebook, "Runaway Bus Whiting Quarter Tonner washed and waxed and hull sanded ready for antifouling in Kinsale Boatyard today"
