From Facebokk 2022: Barbara Lloyd,
Jun 16 1991: "Last fall, a yachting syndicate
founded by Teddy Turner spent $700,000 to buy an 80-foot used Swedish maxi-yacht,
The Card. The ocean racer finished fifth in the 1989-90 Whitbread race. Turner
and his crew from Charleston, S.C., renamed the boat Challenge America
for their 1993-94 Whitbread competition. But this summer, they have been unable
to find many maxi-yachts to practice against.", see: https://www.nytimes.com/.../yachting-maxi-boats-losing..."

"Was bought and sailed to Savannah GA in 1990 by
Teddy Turner and several members of Lake Lanier Sailing Club and others. Renamed
Young America. Plan was to sail the next Whitbread but didn’t happen"
&
"sailed that boat with Teddy ... she was called
"Challenge America" .... Campaign fell thru and was sold to a School,
then sold to the last owner in Aus. The plan was to commission a W60 for the
Whitbread.... this vessel was to raise funds, etc. We dod (and still) hold the
Course Record for the Daytona-Bermuda Transat.- (IOR)."

2012 17 July "Sailing
Anarchy", low card " The former Maxi-Whitbread
ketch “The Card” met her end a few weeks ago after breaking a mooring
line and running up on the reef at Armit Island in the Whitsundays, and we’re
told the boat was owned by the same owner that let “Anaconda” go
up on the rocks a few years back. An ignonimous end to a boat that has seen
lots and lots of better days, and there are loads more sad pics and some reminiscing
in the thread. Thanks to Auscat for the news, even if it took us a little while
to post it here! "

2014 DailySail, The Card – Farr maxi ketch 80ft Peter Buckley writes (11/8/14): I sailed “The Card” in the 1998 Sydney to Hobart (the windy one!) we covered the yellow hull in blue and called it Nokia.. blew up 6 spinnakers on the first night downhill in 55 knts then we didn’t need them after that anyway! the old ketch was pretty tough old bus making the finish.."
