Refit new rigs, designed and built by Southern Spars, were stepped, some 25kg lighter than the originals. A new lighter keel was also fitted (500kg) - being smaller in size it also reduced underwater drag.

Skagen race: DNF/??, from Sailing Anarchy Forum 2014 "Both La Poste and NZ Endevour used to be in Norway. Chartered to companies, team building competitions etc. I sailed the Skagen race with La Poste in 2000 in 30-40 knots of wind, competing against NZE. We thought we were way behind and pushed hard, loosing one sail because of crew error and ripped a couple of others. Great fun. Later we understood that NZE had retired because of the foul weather and didn't sail the course."
