comments, in 2010: "Pandemonion's construction
began (confirmed by the competent authorities) end of November - first days
of December 1989 and was measured in Lago di Garda beginning June 1990 to
participate in the 1/4 Ton Cup in Bayona (Spain) in September 1990. The rules
allowance was that a carbon boat was acceptable provided the construction
had begun prior to December 31st 1989 and completion and measurement prior
to June 30th 1990!
So Pandemonion was the last boat built in carbon. This was made possible by
the fact that the mould existed because 2 boats [Marfrio, Audace II] had been
built already.
The mould was modified somewhat at the aft section, but the big difference
was made by the keel, which was our contribution to the design and the small
rudder blade, which in the right conditions and the old sail plan was outstanding."
