Designed by Owen Clarke Design and built by Jaz Marine in 2007, Cutlass is the only Cat Zero compliant 40 currently in the US. 2007 Class 40 world Champion as 40 Degrees. 1st in the 2009 Bermuda 1-2, Marblehead Halifax, and Ida Lewis Distance Race. Recent refit with new race bottom, PBO, running rigging and winter TLC by Maine Yacht Center. Both keel and mast were removed and looked after. Cutlass comes with all the options, stout Southern Spars triple spreader rig, fabricated keel fin, full electronics package with twin B&G ACPs and rams, large square top main (2009), minimum weight, the list goes on. First Light went through a complete refit in 2014 with no expense spared, the boat was stripped and repainted inside and out and all of the deck hardware was replaced with Harken winches and blocks, Spinlock rope clutches, B&G instruments with Zeus displays in the cockpit and lower nav station. lots of new or near new sails, all of the running rigging was also replaced. 2023 January, Class 40 #37 For Sale - A Vendre, A solid, 2nd generation Class 40 in excellent condition. Launched in 2007 and originally raced short-handed, she quickly made it onto the podium with a win in the Rolex Fastnet Race adn was the Class 40 champion in 2008. She continued to perform well in the classic offshore long-distance races to include the TJV, Artemis Transat, before obtaining a win in The Atlantic Cup, 2011. She continued to be campaigned up to 2020. Her recent owners have converted her to a fully eco vessel with electric engine and hydrogen fuel cell. She is fully emission free and recently has been used to conduct a plastics survey to support a long term clean up strategy of the oceans. With an extensive inventory of 2019 sails and modern equipment included in the price, she is priced to sell and will be ideal for either racing (inside or outside class) or fast cruising. As a vintage category Class 40, these boats get their own ranking as well as overall scores within Class 40 events, allowing for some competitive racing. In Europe these vintage boats are still being raced against the best of the Class 40 fleet and can perform well.
